Quartz
Quartz surfaces are easy to maintain. Quartz is a non-porous
quartz material that is resistant to stains, heat, and
scratching , but it is not indestructible, nor heat,
scratch, or stain proof. Please follow the proper care and
maintenance and some commonsense instructions to enjoy the
beauty and durability of Quartz surfaces for a lifetime.
Routine Care
Cleaning with soap and warm water on a regular basis will
cleanse the surface and maintain its luster and sheen. Use a
non-abrasive cleanser that does not contain bleach for
day-to-day maintenance. Spills should be cleaned up
immediately in the same manner for best results.
Stains and Spills
Quartz is stain resistant though some spills and stains may
be more difficult to remove than others. especially if they
have dried on the surface. For issues that require more than
simply soap and water a non-abrasive scrub pad may be
employed, such as Mr. Clean® Magic Eraser. Rinse thoroughly
after use and wipe with a clean cloth.
For substances such as adhesive, gum or grease you may need
to use a plastic scraper or putty knife to carefully scrape
the material off the surface and then clean as above. Some
recommended cleaners for tougher issues include Simple
Green®, Formula 409® Surface Cleaner or denatured alcohol.
Honed Finish and Darker Colors
Honed finish and dark colored material require more
maintenance and more frequent cleaning to maintain their
appearance. Fingerprints or metal scuff marks will appear
more readily and be more apparent. These marks can be
removed in the same manner as above. Dark colors typically
will show more readily dust, scuffs, and dirt than lighter
colors. These will require maintenance more often to keep up
their appearance .
Heat
Quartz is resistant to heat but not heat proof. It can
withstand a normal cooking environment, but you should avoid
placing hot pots and pans directly on the countertop, rather
using a trivet or hot pad to protect the surface. Radiant
heat such as a crockpot must always have a trivet between it
and the surface to avoid damage. Do not place hot pots and
pans directly on Quartz as this may void the warranty.
Durability
Quartz is tough, but not indestructible. It is resistant to
scratching, though please avoid cutting directly on the
surface, rather employ a cutting board always. Do not use
abrasive cleaners or pads to clean the surface as these may
cause scratching. Quartz is resistant to cracking although
excessive force or pressure/weight can cause failure of a
seam or material. Strong chemicals and solvents should be
avoided and kept out of contact with a Quartz surface as
they may etch or discolor the material. Chemicals to avoid
include but are not limited to acetone, nail polish remover,
paint removers, bleach, oven cleaners, drain cleaners and
other chemicals with a high alkaline or PH Level.
